ByteMobile stops T-Mobile web-n-walk installation
I just solved a colleague's problem: he used to have a Vodafone umts contract and just switched to T-Mobile. After de-installing the Vodafone software he wanted to install the T-Mobile software but the installation aborted with an error message about the speedmanager being already installed.
The problem here is that the old software was de-installed correctly but it (incorrectly) left some entries in the registry. Thus, the solution is to delete every occurance of "ByteMobile" from the registry (there are only a few).

Theo,
sorry, no. I don't have any experience with this software aside from solving the particular issue.
Hey, that was interesting,
This is pretty understandable as it was originally ona vodafone platform.
Thanks
I really like what you write in this post, It really gave me lots of information about what I need, Thank you!

I'm glad people are writing about these issues because documentation from official sources is minimal on the subject of installation problems.
I have a similar problem. I upgraded my T-mobile web'n'walk USB stick firmware (with new firmware downloaded from t-mobile.nl). The firmware upgrade succeeded but now the new drivers don't want to install. Installation ends with;
"An incompatible standalone version of the speedmanager plus/ByteMobile Client is present on the system. This version must be uninstalled and OS restarted!".
I have tried removing every registry reference to "ByteMobile". (And I removed all "Novatel", "Option NV", "GlobeTrotter" and "T-Mobile" references as well.) The installer (after several reboots) still gives the same error. Any ideas?
